THE operator of an Indian-Bangladeshi restaurant in Dalkeith has donated ÂŁ1000 to charity thanks to the generosity of his customers.

Matin Khan, director of Itihaas in the town’s Eskbank Road, handed over a cheque to Vision Bangladesh – a charity which provides cataract operations for people in the country.
Almost 100 guests attended a lunch-time reception at the restaurant where Khan, who left his native Bangladesh for the UK at the age of 13, presented the donation.
“Vision Bangladesh does tremendous work in restoring sight to people in my home country who would otherwise go, or remain, blind,” he said.
“My team and I are very grateful to our many customers who helped raise this money.”
