A SPANISH tapas bar was set to open on Glasgow’s south side as this section of SLTN went to press.
Taking its name from the food market on Barcelona’s Las Ramblas, Boqueria is located at Urban Pub Company’s 1901 bar on Pollokshaws Road and will major in traditional Catalonian and Spanish-inspired cuisine.
Tapas dishes include Spanish black pudding in a red wine reduction; an Iberico platter featuring Serrano ham, chorizo Iberico, three Spanish cheeses, bread and olives; and deep fried white bait with Tequila salsa. There’s also a range of vegetarian tapas, including breaded Jalapeno peppers stuffed with cream cheese with a sweet chilli dip; and potato and onion omelette.
“Carrying on 1901’s tradition for live music, Boqueria will feature live Spanish music every Saturday night from 8pm, with flamenco dancers bi-weekly,” said manager Patrick Stapleton.
