Borders drinks firms form a new alliance

THREE Borders drinks firms have joined forces in a bid to increase distribution of their brands.

Born in the Borders is a collaboration between the Scottish Borders Brewery, Broughton Ales and cider producer Thistly Cross and will see the three companies offer their products in a ‘bundle’ deal to distributors across the UK.
The inaugural trade offer will feature six casks each of Broughton Ales’ Merlin’s Cask, Thistly Cross cider and Scottish Borders Brewery’s Foxy Blonde; the product selection will change each month.
The drinks firms say the initiative will allow the trade to access a more diverse range of products.
“We realised as a group that, independently, we were aiming to target and supply the same kind of outlets,” said Broughton Ales’ Bret Retallick.
“By joining forces we feel we can provide an interesting offer to the trade and build the craft brewing reputation of the Borders.”
