THE people behind Caorunn gin are in the mood for a story.
Inver House Distillers is challenging bartenders to create imaginative cocktails based on the Celtic spirit and to hear the tales behind them. And it wants entrants to the Caorunn Storytellers Global Cocktail Challenge to tap into the gin’s own story – which involves the use of traditional distilling techniques and five locally sourced Celtic botanicals – for inspiration.
But there are some rules: the drinks must tie in with a true classic cocktail and feature at least one Caorunn botanical – rowan berry, coul blush apple, bog myrtle, heather or dandelion. The British and Spanish leg starts this month, with national finals taking place in Scotland, England, Spain, Australia and the US in June and July. Visit www.caorunngin.com for info.
