PLANS by the Scottish Government to ban tobacco vending machines in pubs could yet be overturned – despite the latest failure of attempts to stop the display ban in larger stores.
Imperial Tobacco had its appeal against a previous legal decision to uphold the display ban thrown out by the Court of Session last month. The tobacco giant has until the middle of this month to decide whether to make a further appeal.
However, the challenge by its sister company, Sinclair Collis, to the vending machine ban remains ongoing.
Colin Wragg, head of UK corporate and legal affairs at IT, confirmed that an appeal hearing is scheduled for May.
