AN East Renfrewshire brewery has scooped a bronze award in the Society of Independent Brewers’ national beer competition.

Kelburn Brewery’s Red Smiddy took the award in the Best Bitters category after progressing through a series of regional and national judging rounds.
The brewery’s Karen Moore said the award is recognition of the hard work that goes into producing the ale.
“I’m grateful to everyone at the brewery, to the pubs who sell our beers and to our many loyal drinkers locally, for helping us to win this award,” she said. “We promise to go on producing our great beers for as long as there’s demand for them.”
SIBA boss Julian Grocock said Kelburn’s “skill, passion and dedication” made it a “deserving winner”.
