One of the ‘best-looking hotels on the Moray Coast’, the Brig & Barrel in Buckie, is up for sale as its owners prepare to retire.
Buckie is equidistant between Inverness and Aberdeen on the A98, allowing both to be accessed within an hour’s drive.
The Brig & Barrel Hotel enjoys a strong trading location on West Church Street, in Buckie’s town centre, occupying a large, detached property over three floors.
Since acquiring the Brig & Barrel in 2022, the current owners are said to have carried out a major internal and external fit out.
The business and property are thus offered in ‘immaculate walk in condition’ for new owners, with every aspect of front-of-house and ‘behind the scenes’ upgraded and maintained to an impressive standard.
Inside there are nine letting bedrooms, and a bar, restaurant and sun lounge games area, supported by a commercial kitchen. Outside, there is a south facing beer garden, fully landscaped with a pergola, beer patios and a children’s play area.
Just a short drive from world-class fishing on the River Spey, top golf courses and the Speyside Whisky Trail, Buckie has grown in recent years, with significant house building on its outskirts, and a busy High Street with a variety of shops, pubs and restaurants at its centre
The town is also continuing to see substantial inward investment with the siting of the Moray Firth Wind Farm off the coast, one of the largest wind farm projects in the UK.
Selling agents Cornerstone said that The Brig and Barrel Hotel had been a ‘labour of love’ for its current owners, who purchased a ‘rundown’ hotel premises in 2022 and immediately set about an ambitious renovation to breathe new life into the building.
“Opening the bar just before Christmas 2022 was a meaningful milestone, followed by the full hotel later in 2023,” said Cornerstone. “Today, our clients are rightly proud of a well performing business and an immaculate property. The owners have spent liberally to future proof the fabric of the building as well as growing a multifaced hotel business.”
As the current owners seek to retire, the business is offered for sale on a freehold basis, at an asking price of £495,000.
