British rock legends The Stranglers have collaborated with Caskade Drinks to release their own ‘Golden Brown’ Single Malt Scotch Whisky.

Inspired by the group’s classic 1982 hit of the same name, Golden Brown was distilled at Speyside’s Craigellachie Distillery and matured for 14 years in sherry casks.

Bottled at 46% ABV and limited to just 835 bottles, the liquid is described as being ‘as bold and rich as its lyrical namesake’, delivering notes of coffee, almond and raisins on the nose with burnt toffee, dried orange peel and ginger on the palate and an enduring, lingering finish.

The bottle’s bespoke label takes visual cues from The Stranglers’ original 7” single release of Golden Brown, conjuring the texture and feel of vintage records.

Fans had their first chance to sample and purchase Golden Brown at the band’s Scottish summer shows at Glasgow’s Kelvingrove Bandstand.

The Stranglers said: “We are incredibly pleased to announce our own brand single malt whisky ‘Golden Brown’.

“We’ve specially selected this whisky, distilled at the famous Craigellachie distillery in Speyside, to create this beauty. It’s been matured in sherry casks for 14 years and is a complex and outstanding spirit which we’re proud to put our name to!

“It’s a limited run and there’s only 835 bottles available in total so be quick if you want a dram with us!”
