Landmark Highland Perthshire hospitality venue, the Atholl Arms Hotel in Blair Atholl, is up for sale through Christie & Co.
Situated at the base of the Cairngorms National Park, adjacent to Blair Atholl train station and close to the A9 road leading to the Highlands, the Atholl Arms Hotel is a grand 19th-century railway hotel and pub-restaurant.
Dating back to 1832, the current building features 31 en-suite guest bedrooms, along with a pub, restaurant and function facilities, including the Bothy Bar and lounge, the Atholl Suite and lounge, and the grand Baronial Hall, as well as dedicated staff accommodation.
The hotel has a rich history, with Queen Victoria reportedly visiting there in 1844.
Its impressive exterior synergises nicely with that Royal past, showcasing traditional Scottish stonework, set against the backdrop of rolling hills, while the interior of the hotel retains original character and charm throughout.
The hotel has long been a popular stop for tourists exploring the region, with nearby tourist attractions including the Blair Atholl Whisky Distillery, House of Bruar luxury retail, Blair Castle and the Cairngorms National Park.
The current owner, Heather Reeves, has owned the hotel for 25 years, and has decided to put the property on the market to focus on other businesses. Reeves commented: “After 25 wonderful years operating our Highland family business, we have now decided to place it on the market.
“This will allow us to focus on other growing areas of our work, while passing the reins to someone who can continue its legacy. We are proud of what we have built and excited for what’s ahead.”
Gary Witham, director – hotels at Christie & Co, added: “This a prime Perthshire location which has year-round appeal and gives visitors a real heritage experience.”
The property is on the market with a freehold asking price of £1,650,000.
