Patricia Douglas commented: “It has been an absolute pleasure to own The George for 35 years, and may I take this opportunity to wish the new owners well.

“A huge thank you to my staff who have been amazing, to all the customers who have been so loyal for many years, and not forgetting our local suppliers. Thank you all.”

Christie & Co’s Simon Watson added: “I am delighted for Trish that we managed to achieve the sale of the George Hotel. I would like to wish her all the best for the future and equally to the new owner.
