Cave Direct is now the importer and distributor of Beamish Irish Stout in Great Britain, promising to give the brand a ‘proper home’ in this marketplace.
Brewed in Cork for over two centuries, Beamish claims to be ‘the stout of choice’ for many in Ireland, although unlike the market leader, it has tended to fly under the radar.
“Growing up, there was always an air of mystery around Beamish,” said Rob Young, national account manager at Cave Direct. “You could only find it in Cork, and you wouldn’t really see it anywhere else.
“Then, in 2022, I started to notice it around Belfast and it was then I knew we had to have it on Cave Direct’s list.
“It represents everything people look for in a pint. It has depth, balance and tradition. It really is the stout drinker’s stout,” said Young.
“This partnership has been three years in the making, and now, bringing it to Great Britain is more than just adding another beer to our range, it’s about giving drinkers access to a classic that deserves to be poured with pride.
“We know the demand is there, so we’re taking a careful, phased approach to make sure Beamish gets the welcome it deserves.”
Beginning this month, the first Scottish venues listing Beamish through Cave Direct are, in Edinburgh, Seamus in EH3, and The Finch in EH6, and in Glasgow, Ryan’s Bar in Govanhill, and the Old Toll Bar in Kinning Park.
In 2026 Cave Direct intends to expand Beamish to more pubs and bars across the country. A full list of venues will be updated onto this map Beamish Account Map List as they go live.
