Following successful on-trade trials earlier this year, Belhaven Brewery has launched a new lager, Belter, which is now generally available for outlets to order.
A 4% ABV golden lager that is said to deliver ‘a refreshing, subtly sweet profile with hints of citrus and tropical fruit, Belhaven describe Belter as ‘crisp, clean, and easy-drinking’.
The beer was initially trialled in a number of Edinburgh pubs, allowing the brewery to gather feedback on the product and refine the branding and the beer itself, alongside wider consumer research to ensure that it met drinkers’ preferences.
With a striking red badge designed to catch the consumer’s eye at the bar, the burst of sunshine behind the brand name in the design is a nod to the location of Belhaven Brewery in Dunbar, locally referred to as ‘Sunny Dunny’.

Marketing manager for Belhaven Brewery, Fiona Matheson, said: “We are thrilled to be launching our new lager into the wider market and we’re proud of the beer we’ve brewed.
“‘Belter’ means ‘admirable, outstanding or thrilling’, and we felt this was the perfect fit for our new Belhaven lager,” said Mathieson.
“Now that it’s on sale, our customers are really enjoying Belter and we can’t wait to see more outlets offering the beer and customers enjoying a pint across Scotland.”
She added: “As the oldest working brewery in Scotland, heritage is a key part of who we are and we continue to highlight this in our portfolio of beers.”
