For many in hospitality, managing a pub is a rewarding challenge. It can be the chance to bring a personal vision to life and run a venue on their own terms.
At just 26, Lauren is already a proud owner of a successful, food-led pub known for its quality food offering and standout cocktails.

Lauren’s hospitality career has accelerated quickly, and in just four years, she managed multiple sites within a group, including a nightclub, a country pub, and a sports bar, with each providing valuable experience. From large-scale event planning and financial oversight to kitchen operations, staffing, and customer service, Lauren gained experience across every facet of the business. She was at the helm of operations, often managing teams, systems, and hundreds of guests, and all while raising her young daughter.
Deep down, Lauren knew she wanted to create something of her own – and that turning point led her to Star Pubs, where she found the ideal opportunity just five minutes from home. The venue had been shut for four years and was in need of love and care, and within just six weeks renovated the 165-cover pub.

Throughout the process, Star Pubs supported her every step of the way, by offering practical advice and initial rental support – and most importantly, genuine belief in her vision. “They never judged me based on my age or experience,” Lauren says. “They just saw what I was capable of.”

The result is The Steadings – a thriving, food-led pub with curated cocktails, a thoughtful wine list, and a team culture rooted in quality and care. Lauren now employs 18 people – 11 of them women and has fostered an environment where staff are encouraged to grow and develop.

Now in its third year, The Steadings has become a true local gem. It’s proof of what can happen when a passionate operator is given the freedom to shape something special, backed by the structure and support of a company that cares.
Lauren still meets monthly with her Business Development Manager, and knows that advice or extra support is only ever a phone call away. “I’ve always felt like more than just another number in the system,” she says.

Her advice to anyone thinking of taking the next step? “My journey’s been supportive from the start. If you have the passion and a vision, go for it.”

At Star Pubs, we believe in unlocking the potential of operators, giving them the tools and backing to turn tired venues into thriving businesses.
