Tiny Rebel and LWC bid for a share of the UK stout revolution with Coal Drop

Coal Drop Stout is the latest black beer brand to launch onto the UK on-trade market hoping to catch the attention of the country’s ‘vast and growing demographic of stout drinkers’.

Described as a ‘truly Great British Stout’, Coal Drop is the product of a partnership between independent drinks wholesaler LWC and Welsh craft brewing powerhouse Tiny Rebel.

“Bringing together Tiny Rebel’s renowned brewing expertise with the strength of LWC’s service and national distribution network, Coal Drop will offer consumers an easy-drinking, smooth and creamy stout, at an accessible price point,” the partners declared.

Brad Cummings, co-founder of Tiny Rebel, said: “There’s a stout revolution, and it’s safe to say Coal Drop will more than rise to the occasion.

“The velvety brew has been ten months in the making, and the coffee and chocolate aromas, blended with the smooth roasted malt mouthfeel, makes the perfect drop. We’re excited to partner with LWC to bring our stout to the masses.”

Beer & Cider category manager for LWC, Lee Williams, commented: “With the popularity and growth of stout showing no signs of slowing down, consumers are seeking out more choice and more options on the taps.

“When the conversations of a potential partnership with Tiny Rebel arose, we were all very excited,” said Williams. “Founded by best mates Brad and Gazz in 2012, Tiny Rebel has grown from two mates brewing beers in their garage at the weekend, to a best-selling beer brand.

“It’s an impressive story that resonates with consumers, not least because of their B Corp certification. Every product they produce has an edge to it that seems to win with today’s drinkers.

“Combining Tiny Rebel’s brewing expertise with LWC’s national footprint feels like the ultimate recipe for success for our customers, the on-trade and for stout lovers across the UK. Here’s to launching the next big British Stout!”

Exclusive to the on-trade, the 4.1% ABV Coal Drop is intended to sit ‘at a sessionable level, making it the perfect choice for those seeking a refreshing, easy-drinking stout’.

Brewed at Tiny Rebel’s Rogerstone’s brewery in Newport, the name ‘Coal Drop’ refers to the mining history in and around Newport and the surrounding South Wales Valleys, and the rich colour of the perfect glass of stout.

Combining pale malted barley with a blend of kilned and roasted malts, Coal Drop is said to be a ‘smooth yet flavourful’ beer, with a nitro pour completing the experience.

Hitting the on-trade from January 20th January, Coal Drop stout will be available across all 18 LWC depots in a 30L Sankey keg.
