It is likely to be a few more Burns Nights before actor Ewan McGregor parts with his latest whisky – a cask gifted to him by Lagg Distillery on Arran.
It’s the second cask Isle of Arran Distillers has gifted the actor. He was first gifted a cask from the company’s Lochranza Distillery in 1998 – a Sherry Hogshead – and recently raised £135,000 for charity Children’s Hospices Across Scotland (CHAS) by auctioning 150 exclusive bottles from it.
His new Lagg cask is one of the first bourbon barrels that the distillery filled, back in 2019.
Lagg Distillery manager, Graham Omand, commented on the partnership: “We were absolutely thrilled to welcome Ewan McGregor to the distillery recently and gift him with his very own Lagg cask of our Single Malt. We very much look forward to seeing how this liquid matures and continuing our partnership with Ewan moving forward.”
Isle of Arran Distillers is an independently owned producer of Single Malt Whisky on the Isle of Arran, with two distilleries situated at either end of the island.
Lagg Distillery is the newer of the two, opening in 2019, in the south of Arran, producing heavily peated malt with a rich smoky flavour.
Lochranza Distillery is on the north of the island, and produces Arran Single Malt.
