Tigh An Eilean Hotel on the North Coast 500 is in need of a new owner

There is an opportunity to pick up a hotel on Scotland’s booming North Coast 500 tourist route with the sale of the Tigh An Eilean Hotel in Shieldaig.

The business, which has had the same owners for the past 25 years, comprises a residents’ bar, three sitting rooms, a 24-cover restaurant and the separate Shieldaig Bar and Coastal Kitchen, which can cater for 20 (bar) and 35 (Coastal Kitchen restaurant) visitors, respectively.

On the accommodation side, the hotel has 11 en suite bedrooms, comprising two single rooms, four double rooms, one twin room, a family room and three double/twin rooms.

There is also a beer garden and sun terrace, owner’s flat, a seven-bedroom staff block and a general store, which adjoins the main building.

Last year food and drinks accounted for 46% of sales, with accommodation accounting for 33% and the shop 21%. Gross turnover for the year was £1,589,971.

Selling agent Cornerstone said that the Tigh An Eilean enjoys year-round trade, benefiting from its status as the only restaurant, pub and shop in the village, in addition to its busy spring and summer season as part of the North Coast 500 route.

Cornerstone said the hotel is “undoubtedly a fantastic opportunity for new owners with fresh drive and ideas to inherit a well established and much loved hotel that is central to the day to day running of a thriving remote Highland village”.

The hotel has a guide price of £1.25 million.
