Promising to ‘capture the soul of the French Riviera’ in a bottle, The Gardener Gin, from Southern Rhone Valley winemakers Famille Perrin and actor Brad Pitt, is now available in the UK via Amathus Drinks.

Pitt and the Perrins first joined forces in 2012 when he worked with the family on creating their category leading Provence Rosé brand, Miraval, a successful partnership that has since produced a Miraval champagne brand and a range of skincare products.

The Gardener Gin is the latest product of this Hollywood and Côtes de Provence collaboration, with added expert input from longtime master distiller at Tanqueray, Tom Nichol, who came out of retirement to join the project.

Together, Nichol, Pitt and the Famille Perrin set out to create ‘the ultimate London Dry gin’ using the core ingredients of  juniper, licorice, angelica and coriander, alongside botanicals local to the French Riviera.

The resultant liquid is described as ‘vibrant and complex, with a smooth texture and sparkling scent notes of juniper, and citrus flavours that sneak to the front’.

Made from wheat in copper stills, the gin is organic certified, in line with the Famille Perrin’s winemaking principles, and laced with an unconventional blend of fresh and dry citruses – pink grapefruit, bright lemon and sweet and bitter orange from the Cap d’Antibes.

Greg Kimber, head of Agency Spirits at Amathus Drinks, said: “We’re delighted to have been trusted to be the exclusive UK suppliers of The Gardener Gin, and to expand our collection of drinks from the creative minds of Brad Pitt and the Perrin Family.

“We’re admirers of Tom Nichol’s work, who is such an important and influential figure in the gin business, and with Pitt and Famille Perrin he has helped create a lively and modern gin that captures the art-de-vivre of the French Riviera,” said Kimber.

“Thanks to their considered mix of bitter orange, sweet orange and pink grapefruit, all grown locally in the heart of the French Riviera, the gin has a rich and balanced taste.”

Matthieu Perrin, co-founder of The Gardener and part of the 5th generation of Famille Perrin, added: ‘We are extremely delighted to announce our distribution partnership with Amathus Drinks to bring The Gardener to the UK.

“Their commitment to excellence, diversity, and progression in the dynamic drinks sector mirrors that of Famille Perrin and we look forward to a successful and long-lasting collaboration.”
