A NEW owner is being sought for the Smiddy Restaurant and Bar in Selkirkshire.
The well-established family-run venue, in the village of Ashkirk, in the Scottish Borders, was originally a blacksmith’s before being converted into a licensed premises. It was taken over by the current owner in 2005, who developed it into the Smiddy Restaurant & Bar of today.
Open all year around, it is described as ‘the perfect small country pub and restaurant’ for both locals and visitors. After close to 19 years of successful trading, the Smiddy has come to the market due to the owner’s pending retirement.
The Smiddy currently trades as a licensed restaurant with 55 indoor covers and four outdoor covers. It offers dinner service four nights a week and lunch and dinner on a Sunday. It is said to be popular with both local clientele and tourists visiting the area.
There is also a four-bedroom owner’s home with private parking, a south-facing garden and a separate private entrance.
Describing it as a ‘truly great and well-established opportunity in Ashkirk’, selling agent Bruce & Co is seeking offers of £549, 950 and upwards for the Smiddy Restaurant and Bar.
