A QUINTESSENTIAL village inn with an excellent reputation for its food – and a recent history of painstaking refurbishment and modernisation – has become available in the Scottish Borders.
After 14 years under the care of the Reynolds family, The Allanton Inn, in Allanton, Duns, Berwickshire, is now for sale through Graham + Sibbald.
This historic coaching inn, in a conservation village setting close to the regional transport hub of Berwick-upon-Tweed, in the heart of an area dotted with stately homes, castle and battlefields, has had a modern fit out in its seven high quality letting bedrooms, whilst keeping its traditional feel in the lounge bar and restaurant.
The sellers, William and Katrina Reynolds, have owned and operated the Allanton Inn for over 14 years and during their time have extensively refurbished and modernised the inn to what G+S described as ‘an exceptional standard’.
The restaurant has an excellent reputation and is renowned for supporting local suppliers and showcasing local produce, a strategy that secured the Allanton Inn a Scottish Thistle Award for Best Eating Experience in the South of Scotland 2023, as well as many other past industry accolades.
In recent years, the Reynolds have also created an attractive beer garden with al-fresco dining, as well as its own cocktail bar and outdoor pizza oven, which bustles with activity during the summer months.
