For the first time, international spirits and wine company Brown-Forman has added a rum to its global portfolio, with the acquisition of Diplomático from Spain’s Destillers United Group.
The core Diplomático bottling is the world’s number-one ultra-premium rum, by volume sales in 2022, while the Diplomático Reserva Exclusiva is also the number one super premium+ golden/dark rum in the UK on-trade.
Managing director of Brown-Forman UK, Ryan Van Arnam, commented: “Brown‑Forman’s portfolio of authentic, award winning, super-premium brands continues to grow and the addition of Diplomático marks the start of a new chapter for us. We are looking forward to the future development of the brand.

Diplomático Rum consists of two ranges; the Tradition Range, that includes rum blends to be sipped or mixed in elegant cocktails; and the Prestige Range, which is produced in limited quantity to give rum aficionados the pure essence of Diplomático’s different distillation styles.
The brand now joins Brown-Forman’s impressive portfolio which includes Jack Daniel’s Tennessee whiskey, tequila, vodka, and a single malts portfolio which includes one of Scotland’s oldest licensed whisky distilleries, The GlenDronach.
