JAPANESE drinks giant Suntory continues its centenary celebrations with two new additions to its Hibiki range of blended whiskies.
The limited-edition Hibiki 21 Year Old was finished in rare mizunara casks, which are said to ‘profoundly influence’ the whisky while maintaining the style of the Hibiki whisky.
Suntory master blender Shinji Fukuyo said: “With meticulous precision, we managed to harness the challenging-yet-rewarding characteristics of Japanese mizunara oak to accentuate the unique flavour profile for which our Hibiki whiskies are known. This special whisky showcases our continued dedication to craftsmanship at the House of Suntory.”
The limited-edition bottling of Hibiki Japanese Harmony, meanwhile, features a unique label designed to invoke Japan’s ‘unique seasonality’.
The two Hibiki bottlings are the latest centennial releases from Suntory, which was founded by Shinjiro Torii in 1923.
The company released limited-edition versions of its Yamazaki and Hakushu whiskies earlier in the year.
