Lagg’s Kilmory is Arran to the core

ISLE of Arran Distillers has launched the first in the new core range from its Lagg Distillery.

Lagg, the company’s second distillery on Arran, started production in 2019. The inaugural bottlings from the distillery were released last year as one-off bottlings but the new release – Lagg Kilmory – will form part of the distillery’s core range moving forward.

It has been 100% matured in first-fill bourbon barrels and bottled at 46% ABV without chill filtration or the addition of artificial colouring.

Kilmory is the name of the parish in which the village of Lagg is located.

The flavour profile is said to combine peat with the creamy vanilla of the American oak casks.

Distillery manager Graham Omand said the whisky ‘embodies the house style of Lagg’.

The Kilmory Edition will be joined later this month by Lagg Corriecravie Edition, which has been matured initially in bourbon barrels before being finished for around six months in Oloroso sherry hogsheads.

Corriecravie will be bottled at 55% ABV – again, without artificial colouring or chill filtration.
