Banchory’s popular Buchanan Bistro has been sold through The Restaurant Agency – to one of its existing staff team.

Situated on the Leys Estate 1km off the Deeside Road which runs between Aberdeen and Ballater, the venue was a labour of love for owners Val and Calum Buchanan, who have built an excellent reputation based upon sustainability since launching over 10 years ago.

Situated alongside an Arts Centre with theatre, film and exhibitions, the Buchanan Bistro was using its own gardens to offer vegan, gluten and dairy free options on its menu way ahead of trend, and is known for its creative and environmentally sensitive food sourcing.

Director of The Restaurant Agency, Alan Goldie, who handled the sale, commented: “We were delighted to help secure a buyer for Buchanan Bistro following a closing date for offers in the early part of the year and am delighted that Corrie Dornan the new owner who happens to be one of the team and has been with Buchanan Bistro for a number of years is taking up the reigns so the ethos and staff will remain the same but with some more youthful energy and fresh ideas behind it.”

“We wish Corrie all the best and given she is from Banchory will know her customer base very well. For The Restaurant Agency it has been a pleasure to deal with such an amazing business and operators like Val and Calum make our job as agents in the sale process even more enjoyable.”

Outgoing operators Val and Calum commented: “We have realised we would like a little more of that precious commodity, time, and look forward to walking the hills, wandering the beaches and spending more time with family and friends.”
