Dalmore Gin captures the flavour of Highland Perthshire

Award-winning Dalmore Gin, the signature spirit created by distillers Persie for businessman Alan Bannerman, owner of The Dalmore Inn & Restaurant in Blairgowrie, will be soon be celebrating its fourth birthday.

With that anniversary approaching, Alan has spoken of the journey to create the gin which was recently named ‘Best Spirit to Pair with Food’ at the International Cheese & Dairy Awards.

“Persie did an absolutely fantastic job on this gin for us, and on a personal note I very much enjoyed helping to bring it to life,” said Alan. “Our brief to Persie was to create a spirit that captured the rich landscape and vegetation of Highland Perthshire. I worked with Simon Fairclough, Persie Distillery’s Master Distiller and Managing Director, to curate a gin with top notes of Caledonian pinewood and Scottish woodland, followed by the warmth of peppery heather.

“The result was the minty fresh, grassy gin, reminiscent of forest floors, that we have all come to love. It has a clean and crisp palate with a touch of eucalyptus earthiness. Winning the award has been the icing on the cake,” said Alan.

Commenting from Persie, Mr Fairclough said: “Gin has captured the public’s attention over the past decade and the choice of great brands out there today is incredible. This is why winning a national food pairing award has come as a huge surprise given the stiff competition. We’re so proud of what the team at The Dalmore Inn has achieved and despite it being a tough time for hospitality they continue to go from strength to strength.”

The Dalmore is known for providing a fine Scottish dining experience at an affordable price, with its kitchen regularly showcasing quality ingredients such as local Game.

Alan also owns The Red House Hotel in Coupar Angus, plus No 31 in Blairgowrie, both of which stock the Dalmore gin, which has become a very popular tipple in all his venues.
