Don’t be Leven it too late to move

Opportunity to snap up historic loch-side hotel

HIGHLAND scenery and history are two hallmarks of the Loch Leven Hotel in North Ballachulish, which has come onto the market via property agent Drysdale & Company.

Situated next to the main A82 route linking central Scotland to Fort William and the Highlands beyond via the Glencoe pass, the hotel is steeped in history; part of it is said to date from the 17th century and was originally known as the Ferry Inn due to its location next to the northern landing point of the Loch Leven and Loch Linnhe ferry, which was replaced in 1975 with the building of the Ballachulish Bridge.

Today the loch-side hotel has 12 en suite bedrooms, the Old Ferry Bar (pictured above), 90-cover Loch View Restaurant, ‘Literature Lounge’, and an outdoor decked seating area.

There are also four en suite garden pods, each of which can sleep two people; and planning permission is in place for an additional two pods should the new owner wish to increase the bedroom stock.

Current owners, Craig and Noru Innes, are selling the business after eight years of ownership to focus on their Pixel Spirits company, which produces small-batch rums, vodkas and gins, including Devil’s Staircase Highland Spiced Gin.

Drysdale & Company said the hotel benefits from its location close to numerous walking and hiking routes, Glencoe and Ben Nevis in Fort William.

The Loch Leven Hotel is on the market at offers over £1.1 million.
