AN inn on South Uist has been snapped up by American owners in a deal brokered by Graham & Sibbald.

Overlooking the Sound of Barra, The Polochar Inn has 11 en suite letting rooms, a lounge bar, public bar, function room and a separate guest lounge.

The inn was sold by local businessman Duncan Aitken, who has owned the business since 2018.

Peter Seymour, director of hotel and leisure at Graham & Sibbald, said: “This was an excellent acquisition for these new operators to Scotland.

“They were very enthused by the location, style and ambiance of one of the more profitable island hotels we have sold recently.

“I think they will do very well with this asset and look forward to seeing what they do with the business during their ownership.”
