CHRISTMAS has come early for fans of Isle of Arran whisky after the island distiller added two new expressions to its core range.
The Bodega, which is said to reflect some of the earliest Arran Single Malt expressions, is bottled at 55.8% ABV and is a cask strength, sherry-matured whisky.
It is said to be “luxurious and elegant, with layers of rich sweet spice and oak”.
Barrel Reserve, which is matured in bourbon barrels and is bottled at 43% ABV, is described as having a “light, flexible and fruity character”.
The island distiller has also overhauled the packaging of its core range. A ripple design on the neck of the new Arran bottles represents the journey taken by the water used to distill at Lochranza, which moves through a series of six mountain waterfalls – a process which is said to purify it.
