Caithness-based Dunnet Bay Distillers has teamed up with Ovenbird Coffee Roasters to launch a new coffee-flavoured vodka.

Holy Grass Vodka – Cold Brew Coffee edition, a permanent addition to the distiller’s drinks stable, is crafted using six-year aged Old Brown Java coffee beans (sourced by Ovenbird Coffee Roasters) which are blended with Holy Grass Vodka at the distillery.

The dark chocolate and vanilla notes of the beans are said to be notable, leading to “hints of smoke, caramel and cocoa”, which “merge to create a velvety smooth drink”.

The 41.5% ABV vodka is also described as benefitting from the addition of the “carefully crafted vapour” of Highland apples and apple juice during production, which complements the sweetness of the Holy Grass spirit.

Martin Murray, co-founder of Dunnet Bay Distillers, said the new variant is the result of a lot of experimentation with Glasgow-based Ovenbird Coffee Roasters.

“Over time the method has been perfected and we are now ready to share our Holy Grass Vodka – Cold Brew Coffee edition, with the rest of the UK,” he said.
