A NEW operator is at the helm of a traditional pub on one of Glasgow’s oldest and best-known streets following a deal brokered by commercial property firm Christie & Co.

The 90-cover former Duchess pub on Duke Street, a short walk from the city centre, has been leased out by freehold owner Dario Marchetti to an experienced licensee.

The business is said to be well-established within the area and fitted out to a “high, modern standard throughout” following a recent £300,000 refurbishment.

Josh Hill, business agent at Christie & Co, who handled the sale, said the deal “reinforces the demand for free of tie leasehold public houses around the thriving city of Glasgow”.
