Pub and brewing giant Marston’s is relaunching McEwan’s Lager this month with a new look as part of a wider brand refresh.

The 3.6% ABV lager is described as “a lightly balanced beer that is an easy go-to for a crisp, refreshing drink” and follows the launch of the new-look McEwan’s Export, Champion and Headspace beers in 2018.

Joanna Stickler, McEwan’s brand manager, said: “There was a clear opportunity for a new lager to add depth and diversity to the category; competing not only in the Scottish market, but also across the whole of the UK without compromising on quality and taste.

“We knew we had a great product, but it just needed bringing up to date. Keeping in line with the value that our customers expect, we have given it a new lease of life – with a premium look that doesn’t mean breaking the bank for our consumers.”

Marston’s bought the McEwan’s brand from Charles Wells in 2017 as part of a £55 million deal that also included the Charles Wells brewery in Bedford, brands such as Bombardier and Courage and the UK distribution rights for Estrella Damm, Erdinger and Kirin Ichiban.
