A “hoppy beer with a piney aroma and bitter finish” is what to expect when the 0.4% ABV Brooklyn Special Effects is launched in the UK this month.
Brooklyn Brewery’s low-alcohol lager, which will be available in 355ml bottles, is said to be brewed with a specially-developed fermentation method that limits the amount of alcohol created without reducing the beer’s flavour.
Jonathan Dee, director for craft and ale at Carlsberg, distributor of Brooklyn’s beers in the UK, said: “There has been a clear cultural shift in the UK towards moderation, with drinkers seeing low and no-alcohol options as more socially acceptable.
“Brooklyn Special Effects is already performing well in Sweden and we have no doubt that it will perform incredibly well in the UK too.”
