FORMER Glasgow sommelier Richard Masterson has joined Matthew Clark’s wine buying team as part of the drinks wholesaler’s plans to bolster its wine offering.
Masterson, who previously worked as a sommelier at Ubiquitous Chip in Glasgow’s west end, moved from Matthew Clark’s beer buying team and will focus on Champagne, England and Spain as well as Oceania and the US.
The move comes as Matthew Clark seeks to add more choice and value to its wine offer for the on-trade. Simon Jerrome will head up the team as wine buying director and will be supported by Judith Nicholson and another new addition, Holly Ninnes.
Jerrome said: “I’m thrilled that both Holly and Richard are joining the team and taking a fresh look at our award-winning wine selection.
“We’re building on the strong relationships we have with existing brand owners and producers and look forward to presenting the wines in the Uncovered events taking place around the country early next year.”
