Malt deal checks in

Caol Ila single malt from Islay

A HOTEL in the capital has teamed up with a supplier of rare single cask whisky to provide guests with the chance to sample and purchase “highly collectible” bottles of Scotland’s spirit.

Nira Caledonia, a 28-bedroom boutique hotel in Edinburgh’s new town, is working with Adelphi Selections to offer guests exclusive rare malts, with its latest order consisting of 24 bottles of eight year old 56.7% ABV Caol Ila single malt from Islay.

With labelling that features the hotel’s branding alongside information on the source, age and strength of the whisky, the expression is only available by the full bottle at the Edinburgh hotel.

Alex Bruce, managing director of Adelphi Selections, which bottles and brings to market only one in 35 whiskies that are chosen or provided for sampling, described the new partnership as “groundbreaking”.

“It means Nira Caledonia can offer truly rare whiskies that, in some cases, are not available anywhere else in the world,” he said.
