SCOTTISH heart and Italian personality join forces in the latest limited edition release from Isle of Arran Distillers.

The Arran Small Batch Tuscan Wine Cask Matured is a collaboration between Isle of Arran Distillers, retailer Royal Mile Whiskies and Edinburgh bar Nauticus.

The whisky, distilled in 2008, was matured exclusively in three French oak casks which previously held Sassicaia red wine.

It is described as having notes of black forest gateau, cherry and dark chocolate on the nose with red berry and hedgerow fruit cut through with clove and cracked black pepper on the palate.

Nauticus was opened earlier this year by bartender Iain McPherson, owner of Edinburgh cocktail bars Panda & Sons and Hoot The Redeemer, and licensee Kyle Jamieson. It has a focus on Scottish produce, with the vast majority of its drinks offer sourced from Scottish companies, including over a hundred Scotch whiskies.
