Spirits festival set for Scottish debut
MORE than 60 gins are set to be showcased at a new festival designed to celebrate the juniper-led distillate in Edinburgh next month.
Organised by the team behind The Whisky Lounge and taking place on December 1 at the Assembly Rooms on George Street, the Edinburgh Gin Lounge Festival will allow attendees to sample spirits from a range of brands, including Ian Macleod Distillers-owned Edinburgh Gin, Kokoro, Cotswold Gin and Lakes Gin.
Festival-goers will also be able to sample Nerabus Islay Gin, which was launched earlier this year.
And mixer and tonic firm Fentimans will be on hand throughout the festival to provide a range of specially crafted mixers.
Gin fans looking to learn more about the production process will be able to take part in a series of masterclasses.
Led by industry experts, the sessions will allow attendees to create their own gin and try their hand at cocktail creation, among other activities.
Amanda Ludlow, founder of The Gin Lounge and co-founder of The Whisky Lounge, said the festival’s Scottish debut “offers people across Edinburgh and further afield the chance to discover their favourite new tipples, learn more about the craft behind creating different gins, and try their hand at making their very own”.
“Following the success of The Whisky Lounge, we wanted to bring our expertise and passion for gin together and I believe the Edinburgh Gin Lounge Festival will do just that,” she said.
Tickets cost ÂŁ45 and can be purchased at theginlounge.com
