A SCOTTISH island brewery is helping to cut down on food waste in its community through the release of a new beer.
Bute Brew Co created its 5.1% ABV craft beer, Thorough Bread, using leftover bread supplied by the local Co-op.
The bread is used in place of some of the malt that would normally be used during brewing. The brewery was supported in the project by Zero Waste Scotland, which provided funding for research and development.
Bute Brew Co owner, Aidan Canavan, said the new beer “has proven really popular and I’m proud that it’s a real community effort, with the bread coming from local stores”.
