Stage almost set for the trade night of the year

by Gillian McKenzie

THOUSANDS of miles and various modes of transport later, the judging for this year’s SLTN Awards is over, the results are in and excitement for the trade night of the year is starting to build!

In just three weeks’ time, we will celebrate the brightest stars in the Scottish trade. And, once again, our judges had their work cut out.

The standard of entries this year was exceptional; and visiting the operators and staff who entered or were nominated was inspirational to say the least.

Not only did it reinforce all that is good about Scotland’s licensed trade, it once again highlighted the passion and resilience of those who work in it.

In a year in which the trade has faced the prospect of yet more regulation, the personal licence renewal debacle, the ongoing tourist tax threat and Brexit uncertainty, not to mention spiralling costs, those working in the Scottish trade have continued to raise the bar.

Thank you to everyone who entered, and to our sponsors and independent judges for their support, time and expertise in assessing each category – it is hugely appreciated and absolutely fundamental to maintaining the integrity of the SLTN Awards.

Don’t miss the next issue of SLTN (October 25) when all of the finalists will be revealed in a special preview brochure.

And on November 1 we will shine a spotlight on the incredible businesses, inspirational operators and amazing staff that make this trade so special.

It’s shaping up to be a brilliant night!
