THE Glendronach Distillery is raising a dram to the return of its sherry wood matured 15 year old expression, the Glendronach Revival, following a three-year hiatus.
The original 15 year old expression, which was bottled at 40% ABV, was introduced by Glendronach in the 1990s.
The Glendronach Revival, bottled at 46% ABV, was released in 2009 and was discontinued in 2015 due to “supply constraints”.
Following a three-year wait, the 15 year old single malt, which is matured in Spanish oak Pedro Ximenez casks and Oloroso sherry casks from Andalucía has returned.
The resulting malt, non-chill filtered and of natural cask colour, is said to offer “an exquisite balance of intensity and finesse”, with “notes of ripe dark fruits and manuka honey” and a chocolate finish.
Glendronach master blender Rachel Barrie said: “Today marks the return of The Glendronach Revival Aged 15 years, an iconic aged expression of critical acclaim, revered by connoisseurs around the globe.”
