Belhaven scoops four World Beer Awards
Belhaven Brewery cleaned up at this year’s World Beer Awards after bagging gongs for four of its brews.
The Dunbar-based brewer scooped gold for Belhaven Intergalactic lager in the hoppy pilsner lager category, and silver awards for its Twisted Thistle IPA and Belhaven Black in the American IPA and stout categories respectively.
Elsewhere, Belhaven Twisted Grapefruit IPA won a bronze award in the fruit-flavoured beer category.
Matt Starbuck, managing director of brewing and brands at Belhaven parent firm Greene King, said: “We are delighted to win these awards, particularly as they encompass so many different beer categories – from lager and IPA to stout and even fruit-flavoured beers.
“It shows that not only do our well-known industry-leading beers remain top on flavour, so do our newer styles too.”
Belhaven, which has been producing beer since the 18th century and celebrates its 300th anniversary next year, has expanded its range in recent years, launching Belhaven Black in 2012 followed by its dedicated craft range, which includes Twisted Thistle IPA and Intergalactic lager.
