Dunbar’s Thistly Cross on course for biggest year
SCOTTISH cider maker Thistly Cross is on course for a record year after investing in new premises and launching its first canned cider.
The company, which was launched in 2008, is on track to produce two million litres of cider this year.
The Dunbar business has moved to a converted Victorian shed building, named The Works, on the town’s Implement Road, which has provided space for more production and has also allowed the company to provide brewing space for local craft brewer Eyeball Brewing.
And the move has coincided with the launch of Thistly Cross’s first canned cider, a new, 5% ABV medium-dry cider available in 330ml format.
Peter Stuart, cider maker at Thistly Cross, said the new cider is targeted at both the on and off-trades, as canned craft products become increasingly popular.
“It opens up a world of possibilities,” said Stuart.
