Charitable gin takes flight

The third Viscount Trenchard

A LIMITED edition gin designed to commemorate the centenary of the Royal Air Force has been launched by spirits producer Heroes Drinks Company in partnership with the RAF Benevolent fund.

Created by the firm’s managing director, Chris Gillan, who founded the drinks firm after a training injury ended his RAF career and who was subsequently aided by the fund, Lord Trenchard Premium Gin is named in honour of Hugh Trenchard, 1st Viscount Trenchard, who is said to have been the first chief of the air staff in 1918 and founder of the RAF Benevolent fund a year later.

Limited to 1918 bottles, the gin is said to be produced using a ‘unique’ distilling process, featuring a blend of 11 botanicals, including basil, lemon and cardamom pods; all proceeds from the sale of the gin will go to the RAF Benevolent Fund.
