Major revamp for Borders business

The Roxburghe dates back to the 19th century

THE Roxburghe Hotel and Golf Course near the Borders town of Kelso has been sold to German hotelier 12.18. Investment Management, which is said to have big plans for the business.

The Düsseldorf-based project developer and hotel operator plans to reopen the hotel and golf course in 2019 following the completion of a £30 million refurbishment programme to operate as Schloss Roxburghe.

The 19th century property currently comprises 22 rooms, a restaurant and bar. The new owner aims to enhance the property with a separate extension, which will offer 57 additional letting rooms as well as a spa and ‘state-of-the-art’ meeting space.

Additionally, 60 lodges will be built on the surrounding estate and will be made available for sale to private investors.

The Roxburghe was marketed via property firm Savills for offers in excess of £3.25 million; the final sales price was not disclosed.
