Destination venue offers scope to grow business
OPERATORS seeking a hotel with history might be interested in the Mansion House Hotel & Country Club in Elgin.
The property is a former 19th century baronial mansion situated on the banks of the River Lossie, a few minutes walk from Elgin’s town centre, and has 22 en suite bedrooms spread across four floors.
The hotel also has a 40-cover restaurant, with 20 additional covers available in a bistro area, which is serviced by a large kitchen.
The business also boasts a range of leisure facilities – comprising a swimming pool, steam room and gym.
Included in the sale is a three-bedroom gate lodge, which could be used as owner’s accommodation.
The property has the potential to operate again as a highly successful hotel.
The hotel has been trading on a reduced service basis since March offering only bed and breakfast accommodation for guests.
Agent DM Hall, which is handling the sale, said the annual turnover of the hotel in recent years has been in excess of ÂŁ1 million.
Suzanne Lawrie of DM Hall said: “There is a significant degree of interest in this property, not least because it has iconic status in the local area as an upmarket destination venue and certainly has the potential to operate again as a highly successful hotel.
“From a commercial point of view, it is important that the hotel can be brought back to vibrant life before the summer season gets into full swing. I am highly optimistic that a suitable buyer can be found.”
Offers around ÂŁ975,000 are sought for the freehold of the property.
