THE Cromlix hotel in Dunblane, which is owned by Andy Murray, is set for expansion if plans submitted to Stirling Council get the green light.

Under the proposals, the hotel’s walled garden will be renovated and its glass houses converted into a conference and wedding hall with additional bedrooms.

Also included in the plans is a new glass-fronted afternoon tea room, which is designed to meet growing demand; the existing tea room is said to be fully-booked for most of 2018.

Extending into the walled garden area, the proposed new development will feature 27 additional bedrooms, each with a private garden, as well as spa treatment rooms, a conference and events area for up to 200 people, and a gym which is said to have been designed by Andy Murray himself. If approved, the new facilities will open in autumn 2020.

Graeme Green, general manager at Cromlix, which is managed by Inverlochy Castle Management International, said the hotel often operates at capacity and the team hopes “to build on this success” with the expansion.
