THE former general manager of The Finnieston in Glasgow is set for a career change after he was appointed as UK rum specialist for Scottish spirits firm William Grant & Sons.

Calum Fraser, who has 12 years experience in the drinks industry – including two years as head bartender at The Balmoral Hotel in Edinburgh, has been tasked with generating brand awareness for both OVD and Wood’s 100 Old Navy Rum as well as improving communication between the brands and consumers via the on-trade, distributors and media.

He said: “During my time in the industry I’ve had the absolute pleasure of working at top venues with some of the best hospitality talent in the UK. I’m very excited to bring my on-trade insights, which I’ve collated over the years, to my new role.”

Fraser takes over from Stephen Rutherford, who changed roles within the firm last August to become Glenfiddich Ambassador for the UK.
