BURNS’ Night wasn’t the only reason to raise a dram in the last fortnight, as independent whisky firm Douglas Laing & Co released a new 10 year old limited edition bottling of its Timorous Beastie blend.
The whisky, a blend of Highland single malts which takes its name from the Scottish bard’s famous poem, To a Mouse, has an ABV of 46.8% and is bottled without colouring or chill-filtration. It is packaged in a gun metal grey foiled tube, with the colouring inspired by the traditional ten-year anniversary metal of aluminium. Marketing support for the launch included a series of Burns Suppers with the whisky.
Chris Leggat, Douglas Laing’s commercial director, said: “The new brand extension is a key activation within our global Timorous Beastie strategy for quarter one, which encompasses ‘malt of the month’ listings for the core brand and a comprehensive digital plan that will seek to recruit new consumers to our accessible Highland malt brand.”
