BANCHORY-based Twin River Distillery has appointed a head distiller to grow the firm’s small-batch spirit production.

Liam Pennycook joins Twin River from Strathearn Distillery, where he was head of distilling.

Commenting on his new role, Pennycook said Twin River is “a fantastic example of a true Scottish spirit producer”.

“There are so many opportunities to experiment on-site with almost endless possibilities,” he said.

“This is what really attracted me to join the team; their passion about the provenance of their products is refreshing.”

Twin River recently invested £200,000 in its distillery (it produces its own raw spirit for the basis of its gin) and has plans for new premises later this year.
