Cycling for whisky

THE world’s first bicycle made from whisky casks took centre stage at Luvians Bottle Shop in St. Andrews in a customer competition to win a bottle of Glenmorangie Signet.

The contest challenged Luvians’ customers to hop on the bike, which was created through a collaboration between Glenmorangie and bicycle maker Renovo, for a one-mile ride.

If participants made the distance in under three minutes, they were entered into a prize draw to win the bottle of single malt. Joe Slater (pictured), a PhD student at the town’s university, took home the bottle, which had been signed by distiller Dr Bill Lumsden.
