No smoke without fire

50-cover Edinburgh eatery put on the market

AN established restaurant business in Edinburgh’s Old Town has come on to the books of property firm The Restaurant Agency.

Situated on Holyrood Road, Reekie’s Smokehouse, which was established in 2014, is said to have built up a healthy customer base from a standing start – and despite operating restricted trading hours during the first two years in order to fit in with owners Craig and Felicity Cameron’s family life.

Boasting capacity of up to 50 covers, as well as outdoor seating, Reekie’s Smokehouse occupies the ground floor of a six storey building.

Accessed via a side entrance, the main area is described as “well presented”, featuring a tiled floor and modern lighting.

I expect this unit will be of interest to a wide number of operators.

There’s also a well appointed bar servery space, as well as a fully equipped commercial kitchen.

Currently trading Tuesday through to Saturday 11.30am – 9pm, the agent says there is opportunity to expand sales further by opening beyond the current five days.

The Restaurant Agency is seeking offers over £60,000 for the leasehold of the property, which will be sold de-branded. The lease still has 12 years to run.

Alan Goldie, director at The Restaurant Agency, said: “I expect given the success of other businesses in the area… that this fully licensed unit will be of interest to a wide number of operators.”
