A big year for a young spirit

London Dry Gin from Stirling heralded in first two years

Cameron and June McCann of Stirling Gin

THE couple behind a Scottish craft gin brand are celebrating a successful first two years in business after securing several award nominations and a win in the space of a few weeks.

Stirling Gin was named Best Start-Up Business at the recent Forth Valley Chamber of Commerce Awards – one of three categories it had been shortlisted in. The business, owned by Cameron and June McCann, had also been shortlisted for three awards at the Scottish Gin Awards the week before.

“We have put an awful lot of hard work into building Stirling Gin up both as a company and of course as a product, to have recognition both at national level and locally at this early stage is really pleasing,” said June.

Cameron added: “To make the final three classifications at the inaugural Scottish Gin Awards was something we were both proud of. In particular, making the final of The London Dry Gin of the Year award, considering the strength and vibrancy of the Scottish gin scene and the level of competition.”

Stirling Gin had previously won the Best New Business award at the Scottish SME Business Awards.

The couple are set to open a distillery and visitor centre for Stirling Gin in Spring 2018 after purchasing a former blacksmith’s building near Stirling Castle.
